Which files can I import?
EPUB files. Pick one from Files, iCloud Drive, or any provider your phone can reach. DRM-protected files from a store cannot be opened, because the file itself is locked.
Where do the books come from?
From you. ReadIt has no catalogue and no store. It reads books you already own and import yourself.
Does it work without a connection?
Yes, with the built-in voice engine, which uses the speech voices installed on your phone. Full-cast narration needs a connection because the audio is generated by a service.
A character has the wrong voice. Can I change it?
Open the cast sheet from the transport bar while reading, tap the role, and pick a different voice. It takes effect on the next line that character speaks.
The built-in voices sound flat. Can I improve them?
iOS ships compact voices by default. In the iPhone Settings app, under Accessibility then Spoken Content then Voices, download an Enhanced or Premium voice. ReadIt will use it the next time it casts.
The app is using a lot of storage.
Generated narration is cached so replaying a line does not regenerate it. Open Settings in ReadIt and clear the cache. Your books and reading progress are not affected.
I lost my place in a book.
Progress is saved per chapter as you listen. Open the book and use Continue, or pick the chapter directly from the chapter list.
How do I cancel a subscription?
Subscriptions are managed by Apple, not by us. On iPhone, open the Settings app, tap your name, then Subscriptions, and choose ReadIt. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription.
How do I delete my data?
Everything ReadIt keeps is on your device, so uninstalling the app removes all of it. There is more detail on the data deletion page.
Reporting a problem
Include your device model, your iOS or Android version, and what you were doing when it went wrong. If it involves a specific book, say which chapter. That is usually enough for us to reproduce it.
